Review: L.A. Girl Pro. Coverage HD. High Definition Long Wear Illuminating Foundation

This foundation has such a long name... Wowsers!

Hello everyone :)

Unfortunately I don't have a very positive review today... This is actually my first singular product review and I feel so horrible that it's not exactly a goodun.

So, if you're reading this, there is a possibility that you have heard of this L.A. Girl (extremely long name) foundation. I was so excited to go out and buy this, because I have heard so many great things about it and how it's an amazing foundation for an affordable price (R175 from Dischem).

I also enjoy their colour correcting concealers and eyeshadow palettes (which I've recently become slightly sensitive/allegic too :( )

So, I went out and bought this foundation on a Friday. I applied it with my usual makeup routine on Saturday and only after a while did I start feeling a slight itch and irritation - keeping in mind that I do have slightly sensitive skin so I wasn't very surprised, but I wanted to still try it out). After that I decided "maybe I can make my skin used to it", so I wore it on Sunday too, and it wasn't too bad... until that evening... I started getting pretty itchy.

I decided to therefore remove my makeup and give my skin some extra attention and so I did a little pamper with a facemark and toner etc etc... My skin actually felt a bit better so I wasn't worried.

This was my face after that (on the Sunday):

Slightly red, but nothing I was too concerned about, I thought it would go down after that. Oh boy... was I wrong.

This was my face on the Monday evening, without wearing any makeup the entire day, or using any products at all...

(I know, not the best of pictures, but I wanted to give a clear image of what was happening.) I basically looked like I'd been stung by a good few bees... My eyes started puffing up, I got a rash all over my face and my skin was so dry and flaky, and I couldn't out anything on it :'( ) It also created a rash on my neck which became a heat rash, and I had to sleep with a wet cloth next to my bed because I would wake up scratching the heck out of my neck and needed to soothe it somehow. It definitely was not the best week of my life...

The reaction only really bugged me when I got too hot, so I had to start sleeping with less blanket - which is hard during winter, but I tried.

This was my face on the Tuesday morning (Monday night was the worst night of all - but it started improving from then on):

(I took this with my phone as soon as I woke up... I look horrific lol... Best quality content on this blog.)

So, my eyes are way worse and my skin is less red but still itchy and VERY dry, oh my word, so so dry... It was crazy.

I then went on to trying home remedies from Pinterest to help me out (green tea and coconut oil type stuff) which helped soothe it slightly.

My mom was making me take 2 - 3 Allergix tablets a day, which we found out later we were supposed to be giving me about 6 a day... whoops. I also got an allergy cream which I'm still using now, and I've also put vitamin e oil on my face just to hydrate it during the day.

It's not very itchy anymore, it's just dry and slightly red, but noticeable that there's something on my face (the remainder of the rash), and it's been 6 days now.

I start my second semester of college on Monday, so it sorted itself out just in time, but I haven't been able to wear makeup for an entire week, or films videos, so I feel extremely out of the loop haha.

FINAL CONCLUSION:

I do have sensitive skin so I don't feel angry at L.A. Girl for the reaction I got, however, I do think it's ridiculous that it was this severe. I could accept a slight itch and redness like the first picture, but for the reaction to last for a week, I like it's hectic and my face took a real beating, it'll take a while to fully recover.

I do use their concealers and some eyeshadows (ones I've not had allergies reaction to), and I bought their eyeshadow primer and gel liner - these products don't give me bad reactions or at least ones that last for days, so I enjoy those very much.

But if you have sensitive skin, maybe give this a miss because I don't want you having a nasty experience like me. It really does have a beautiful finish and it did things for my skin that all my other foundations don't do, so I'm super bleak this didn't work out for me.

Any recommendations on affordable but great foundations? And what has your experience been with this foundation? Leave a comment down below xx
